So, you’re shopping for a wedding band this week. Here are the Top Ten suggestions of things to look for and questions to ask;
- Is the band a set band with the same musicians all the time?
- Does the band have its own name or is it a generic name used by other bands in the company?
- Do I get to meet the bandleader and go over everything in a face-to-face meeting, prior to my wedding? Or will it impersonal, done through emails and an online form?
- Will the bandleader be my point of contact?
- Do I get to choose songs and help plan the band’s playlist for my wedding?
- Is the band willing to learn songs that are not on their song list?
- Does the band play continuously including lighter music during the dinner courses?
- What is the instrumentation of the band? What options do I have to add or subtract musicians and vocalists?
- Will I get the musicians and vocalists that I see?
- What are my options for ceremony and cocktail music?

I’ve had the pleasure of hiring NY Orchestras at 3 events. The manager, Bill, is superb. From a surprise proposal at the Cartier Mansion to formal engagement at the NOMad Hotel Rooftop to a wedding at the Lotte New York Palace with several different bands - Bill led the way of coordinating all of the entertainment flawlessly. All of the band members of the quartets, official band, and the VIBE are true professionals and class acts! Obviously, lead vocalists Emily and Maverick are my favorites with award winning vocals. Our guests still speak about the pure love that the band sang with and beautiful music they created. My partner and I are forever grateful to Bill and his team for the integral part they played during are most memorable times. I highly recommend each band without reservation.
